Time To Act

The Homeland Project Forum is taking a step away from only WRITING about personal responsibility. We are currently forming a community action group whose purpose will be to support the efforts of the School Board’s mission to further education within our district. We are serious about this challenge, and six days away from our first meeting.
My colleague and I have prepared and distributed flyers, spoken at board meetings, secured support with coffee and cookies, booked the library’s largest meeting room, and given great thought to what we are about, and how we best may offer this to those supportive citizens who, we hope, show up.
We also are discussing what this meeting is not about. We are not allowing politics, blame, or anger to enter into our discussions; others can sponsor such events. We are here to provide a forum where people can entertain issues that affect our local schools. We are here to form committees to research all aspects of an issue, and present viable solutions that reflect the nature of our districts, while maintaining national standards. And, we are here to remember to work together, as one people, with respect and open minds.
The Forum Project is excited to pursue such an agenda: Americans functioning in a manner that long ago drove our colonies to abandon monarchy for a nation of, by and for the people. Simply, this. We hope others will take heart and follow with their own efforts to return sensibility, purpose, and the resolve of the individual to their own communities. This takes courage, but, so what?
We will keep you informed.
